FET TO AMERICA

The Fu Collective , virtual based in Barcelona, is made for readers deeply interested in creating and literary thinking, working together to explore ways and unite common efforts to build independent literary events around the many creative universes for English and Catalan. With an eye on Latin America and intent, thorough, pleasant and friendly, open spaces, build bridges and create dialogues quality. Based essentially on our ignorance and our cultural curiosity as powerful engines.

In 2007 a group of friends, regular readers of Mexican literature, the festival organized in Barcelona to Mexico Fet. We did not just resources and friendship and complicity of many friends and many institutions, publishers, libraries, universities and cultural centers, both Mexico and the City of Barcelona. The answer of the reading public and the press was quite unexpected. And what was originally intended as a discrete event to celebrate Mexican literature in Barcelona, festival ended up being a rigorous and successful indeed very exciting. So we decided to return. Two years later, with a different project. Although the reader with the same enthusiasm, the same literary curiosity and passion accurate.
friends started asking readers, booksellers, critics and writers various English-speaking countries to tell us who they were, according to its criteria, the ten or fifteen English-language writers more proactive. Authors wanted to live, and with a solid proposal and individually defined. And among the authors who suggested and proposals that came to us through the blog, email and facebook, and reading our own search, we did an initial list of over 200 authors.
We have read almost all. In total 235 authors from 21 countries: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua , Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
And we have established a routine in a group reader, who joined friends who wanted to participate in the process and strangers who were also encouraged to collaborate. We got the books of these authors and more than 200 in batches of pooled readings and we have reached an initial selection of about twenty names . There are only twenty that we like, of course, but some who believe they have a more concrete and more subjective. Those who believe that mark with his work, a very personal universe in a common language.
Even among these authors, some easier to find and others that we have been almost impossible (to some, definitely, we could not read them), we have discovered new voices starting to take shape and we also want to participate in our festival.
Because we all come from a tradition that we share and write and read in a common language. Beyond that of social, political or historical, literary forms our core. Our wealth.
this is why the independent festival Fet to America will be held in Barcelona, Menorca, MatarĂ³, Olot, Girona from 18 to 24 October 2010 , and will focus on the American novel in English. A formal proposal from a new and dynamic intention, starting a few months before and that can be followed on the Internet and from various locations in Latin America.

Because we want everyone involved.
